A Lean Manufacturing effort is like designing and flying an aircraft. Manufacturers want to run lean like an aircraft designer wants a plane to fly low and fast. Designing an aircraft and designing a Lean Run Strategy requires a combination of human judgment and computational tools. The goal is to make a balanced, steady platform for the pilot or plant scheduler.
The execution phase is the flying of the aircraft, yes there are autopilot and computer controls on aircraft as there are highly automated planning systems. But both you and the pilot are realists, a human is needed to make the critical decisions when challenges are present. Here is where the strategy (design) really counts. A poorly designed aircraft will be inherently unstable and lead the pilot to be overcompensating for small disturbances in the flight. Likewise a poorly designed Run Strategy will lead the planner to overcompensate on the week to week schedule. This leads to the greatest source of variability in the supply chain-schedule changes.
Our approach is to take organizations away from the “Plan Harder” mentality and into the plan ahead mentality. Our solution is unique in that it does not seek to solve all problems with large scale information systems. Our tools are offered as service so that you can be up and running without time delays or major commitments. You can learn and grow with them, you are not locked in to buying before results.
Our Goals/Results:
- Find actual annualized savings of $1MM/plant (our average performance to date)
- Orchestrate your fulfillment operations so there is rhythm and repeatability
- Achieve success in statistical KPIs with statistically validated solutions
- Show your organization the path to being demand driven
- Bust myths that have persisted in your organization’s decision making
